Where restoration begins

Before we try to change what’s happening around us, sometimes we need space to understand what’s happening within us.

Life leaves marks. Relationships shape us. Experiences change us. The way we’re wired affects how we move through the world. Faith, loss, disappointment, gifts, questions, choices, wounds, hopes, and the things we can’t quite explain all become part of the story.

Restoration begins when we’re willing to look at the whole person.

A person is more than the hardest thing happening in their life.

There is a story behind what we see. Experiences. Relationships. Losses. Strengths. Beliefs. Patterns. Wiring. Ways of processing. Things we’ve learned to do to survive. Things we love. Things we’re good at. Things that overwhelm us. Questions about God. Questions about ourselves. And sometimes gifts or possibilities that have been buried beneath everything else.

So before we ask:

“How do we fix this?”

we might ask:

“What’s actually happening here?”

Maybe we need to see different.

Sometimes seeing differently simply means knowing where to look.
